AcroYoga Master Sessions with Daniel Scott

Daniel Scott, world-infamous AcroYogi provocateur, is coming to Adelaide for the first time!

This mad scientist does things a little differently, so prepare to gain a whole new perspective.

Beginner or beyond, the same rule applies: In order to get good, you’ve got to get better. Edges will be pushed and polished.

Bases will fly, flyers will base, and everyone is going to learn to spot high-level awesomeness!

The Elements of Style: Get GOOD
Weekend Session 1: Saturday

The Master Sessions will grow organically. Foundations of balance and connection will be established. Bone-stacking redefined. High-level spotting skills honed. Beginners to Acrobatic Movement will be challenged. Intermediate and advanced practitioners will also burn with satisfaction.

Focus: Exploration of partner movement through gravity, weight distribution, and partner connection.
Skills Tested: Smooth entry/exit into/out of fundamental positions in pursuit of higher-level flow, Anatomical Balancing, Proprioceptive Acuity.

Don’t know what any of this means? Good. You will!

Bio:
Not all yogis are created equal. Daniel Scott is one of them.

Offering a fresh alternative to the traditional “yoga voice”, Daniel Scott’s classes are mix balance and improv, strength and flexibility, breath and body. Daniel focuses strongly on moving into postures, not through them. A globally renowned ashtanga-vinyasa teacher and Certified Level 2 AcroYoga instructor, he enjoys barefoot running, street art, good coffee, large quantities, and great qualities. Deeply dedicated to sharing in the immense journey from self-conscious to self-aware, this yogi provocateur strives to answer the ever-present question: Are you moving, or being moved?

SHARING THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS: AcroYoga Workshop

AcroYoga at YOGA GARAGE. Working together to create success in headstand
Our last AcroYoga Workshop for 2014 will be part of a week of different activities amongst the Adelaide community helping others that really need it, especially at this time of year! All proceeds will go to a ‘Christmas Fund’ for Ronald McDonald House Adelaide, situated in Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. The proceeds will be donated to help the families who will call Ronald McDonald House their home this Christmas, and used for Christmas/Holiday celebrations. Many families at Ronald McDonald House have been staying there for quite some time, and whilst their accommodation is paid for, special family outings can be costly, unachievable and out of reach for most. The idea is that this event will allow families to participate in fun activities together and provide a moment away from the strains of hospital and treatment routines without having to worry about further expenses. E.g. picture tickets, zoo passes, Beach House vouchers etc.

How you could help:
GET INVOLVED, DONATE & HAVE FUN 🙂

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Want to try something new or build on your love of Acro?

This workshop will introduce a beginner to the foundation of AcroYoga, and for the practising Acro yogi, will refine fundamental techniques. We will share skills accessible to all levels of practice and body allowing you to experience the joy of flight.

The session will include elements of: asana, partner yoga, assisted inversions, basic partner acrobatics, therapeutic flying and Thai massage. During these classes you will work in many different partnerships with new and old friends as you safely and successfully experience the three roles in AcroYoga of base, flyer and spotter.

No experience necessary. No partner needed. Just bring your willingness to play and have fun!

Explore your potential! All levels, all people are welcome to come play.

The week of fundraising has been organised by Rosie Burgess – here is some information about her inspiration:

My father was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, and sadly passed away last year. The treatment process is a tough period for the affected individual and their families. Additionally, it can be especially tough at celebration times like Christmas, as situations are abnormal. There’s not much one can say or do to truly help a family through this time, however I hope that my funding can help bring a brief and joyous distraction to the family over the holidays.
